STILL STUCK IN THE POO POO OF 1950’S OUTLAWRY!

I CANNOT BRING MYSELF TO ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT AFTER FOUR YEARS OF EFFORT IN PUBLISHING THIS BLOG, DETAILING THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH OF THE 59 CONTINUOUS YEARS OF CITY-KILLING CORRUPTION BY AND BETWEEN THE BOOTLEGGERS/GAMBLERS / AND EVERY MAYOR EVER ELECTED SINCE 1953, ALONG WITH THE MAJORITY OF CITY COUNCIL FOR THE SAME NUMBER OF YEARS, HAS BROUGHT ABSOLUTELY NO PROGRESS IN ELIMINATING THIS OUTLAWRY, OR THE ELECTED AND APPOINTED OUTLAWS.DAVEY IS STILL PULLING THE STRINGS, WITH HIS ERSTWHILE PARTNER AND COMPADRE/ CONVICTED BOOTLEGGER/RUMRUNNER “RANDY” AS MAYOR OF THE CITY…WITH AN EVER OBLIGING COUNCIL AT BOTH THEIR FINGERTIPS.

EACH GAMBLER,BOOTLEGGER AND BOOKMAKER PLEDGED ABSOLUTE LOYALTY TO THE ELECTION AND REELECTION OF A MAJORITY OF COUNCIL AND THE SAME TO WHOMEVER “THEY SELECTED AS MAYOR,” WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT WHOMEVER WAS ELECTED WOULD SEE THAT RAY CASTLE WOULD REMAIN “CHIEF OF POLICE” (AS THE ENFORCER OF THE MAYOR’S AND COUNCIL’S PACT WITH THE BOOTLEGGERS.)

TO HAVE THE PACT IN PLACE, IT WAS NECESSARY THAT CHIEF CASTLE REMAIN “THE CHIEF.” THE LAST TIME THAT CHIEF CASTLE RAN FOR OFFICE (ACCORDING TO BOYD COUNTY CLERK RECORDS) WAS 1949. IMMEDIATELY AFTER SOLIDIFYING THE PACT IN LATE 1952–THE YEAR BOOZE WAS VOTED OUT–THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL (LAWFULLY) CHANGED THE MANNER OF SELECTING A POLICE CHIEF. REQUIRING THE POLICE CHIEF TO BE AN “APPOINTED” POSITION FOR A TWO YEAR PERIOD, INSTEAD OF AN ELECTED POSITION FOR A “FOUR YEAR TERM.”

“KEEP RAY AS CHIEF AND WE…THE BOOTLEGGERS, WILL WORK FOR, VOTE FOR AND PROVIDE WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO SEE THEM ELECTED.” —EVERY MAYOR ELECTED OR APPOINTED SINCE 1952—AND THE MAJORITY OF EVERY COUNCIL ELECTED OR APPOINTED SINCE 1952 HAVE STAYED THIS COURSE…BOOTLEGGER,GAMBLER AND BOOKMAKER ‘FRIENDLY,’ SOLELY TO PERPETUATE THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHOSEN SUCCESSORS IN OFFICE’.” SIXTY YEARS AND COUNTING…

FROM A STRONG,VIBRANT CITY OF 5000 POPULATION, A HIGH SCHOOL, THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, THREE DRUG STORES,FIVE SERVICE STATIONS, THREE FULL SERVICE AUTO GARAGES, THREE CAR LOTS, NEW FURNITURE STORES,DRY GOODS, CLOTHING STORES, HALF A DOZEN GOOD RESTAURANTS, TWO HOTELS AND MORE. WE NOW HAVE WHAT??? WHAT? WHAT DO WE HAVE NOW?

WE HAVE ONE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, THREE FAST FOOD SHOPS AND ONE DRUG STORE. NOTHING MORE. NOT EVEN A YOUTH CENTER. ALL, THANKS TO THE PACT.THANKS TO THE BOOTLEGGERS, GAMBLERS AND BOOKKEEPERS, CROOKED COPS AND ONE CORRUPT ADMINISTRATION OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL AFTER ANOTHER MAINTAINING THEIR ALLEGIANCE TO THE PACT, THE CITY DESTROYING PACT. THE UGLY AND OBSCENE CITY-KILLING PACT…ALL WITH THE SCREAMING SILENCE OF THIRTEEN CHURCH MEMBERSHIPS, THEIR MINISTERS, PASTORS,REVERENDS, DEACONS, ELDERS AND PREACHERS…ALONG WITH AN AMEANABLE AND

Lacking even “The truth defense.”

The truth defense is offered when all else fails. When both your counselor and your conscience say you have no chance. You are guilty, and all your friends, neighbors, co-workers and drinking buddies know it…also.

This is the condition which James Allen, David, Randall…and others find themselves. They are all unwilling to take the truth defense, because doing so would leave no doubt as to their guilt. Not a shred.

Let there be no doubt. David is "the" Honcho at the lodge when it comes to forming policy that he, Randall, and James Allen can get approved by Council, regardless of any opposition.

David is also the honcho in selecting a "rum runner" for the lodge’s booze hauling. His good friend, colleague and compadre Randall was his main man when it came to "making the runs." He now has another "local boy" for such good paying chore, with Randall having been caught twice by the Kentucky State Police. "Don’t be angry with the mesenger, you good people elected them."                    More later

WILL THE CONTINUUM OF CORRUPTION CONTINUE?

Of all the important questions to be decided in the November 2, 2010 election, no local issue is more important than the election of our city government. We all need to seriously consider, in fairness and equality, the acts and the actions of our council members and mayors.

Randall, David and James Allen are the most egregious in lawlessness. For many years, each of them and others, each in turn, taking "their turn" at representing their lodge/bootlegging/ gambling interests on Council. All such interests are anathema to the Kentucky Revised Statutes (242.230 & 242.260), as well as the KRS relative to gambling.

Some of the "others" referenced above, include former Mayor and City Attorney Gurney Johnson, former Mayor Roger Hensley and former Councilman and Mayor James Allen Lambert. Each of them up to their eyeballs (as Lodge & Council members) doing the lodge’s business, "bootlegging and gambling", unlawful from the get-go, at the expense of law and order in the city, thusly contributing mightily to more decline-both legal and moral- of any hope for city progress.

For the record, each were wholly engrossed as part of the "bought package" for thirty pieces of silver in giving away the city’s birthright to 1.9 miles of riverbank on the Ohio River and 1.7 miles on the Big Sandy. Worth millions…bartered for a farthing to the city, plus any currency considerations to Gurney, Roger, Jamesy, Randall, David and others who helped in the gaining, theft and closing the deal, including the dummy councilman who said, before witnesses, hell…I never even read the damn thing, Gurney said it was a good deal, so I signed it. And you, dear people, elected both.          Later

Continuing the chronology-from previous blog- of Catlettsburg’s demise as a vibrant little town, with a humming business district from 21st and Center to 28th and Louisa streets from Broadway and Panola to the Ohio and Big Sandy.

By 1955-56 there was some notable loss. By 1958-59, both the legitimate and the not so legitimate business owners were all aware of the continuing loss of stores and small shops, and their diminishing receipts. Even the bootleggers diminished in numbers. Others turned to pills, pot and worse to make up the difference.

The diminution of businesses continued, and the biggest losers chose other means to fill their cash registers. Any and all forms of gambling were employed by the bootleggers. And, they succeeded, and have never stopped. The ligitimate business owners continued to migrate elsewhere, or close shop. The city continued its downward spiral and, it too, has never stopped.

Well into the 1960’s and ’70’s, little changed. The losses continued, businesses continued to leave, houses were condemmed by the city and torn down, in the hope someone would rent or build on them. None were advertised for bid (as Kentucky law demands,) and were sold to whomever had the most pull ,at"fire sale" prices. Each of these actions were unlawful, and the sitting mayor and council at the time of each transaction committed a crime.

In the 1980’s and ’90’s, Catlettsburg remained the same. No business district, little housing, less people and  even less hope of changing anything at any time. At 12 noon or 6PM, on any given Saturday, no one was in town, no one except the elbow benders upstairs and the cops that approve, allow and permit such lawlessness, at the direction of the mayor and council. With every city around us bustling with growth, progress and great potential for the future. And, would you believe it, we are Boyd County’s Capitol City!

There were many such occurrences, each as unlawful as the previous, the first, or the last. What business person would invest in a building or buy a lot and build a business on a fifty feet lot, with a twenty or more feet "set back" in a city controlled by the bootleggers, bookmakers, gamblers, a crooked chief of police and the corrupt council that approved him…every two years for the last twenty years??? They either love the fella a heck of a lot, or he knows more than enough to hang each of them. "The Shadow knows." And so does the "Upstairs." Cops, Council and crooks. Can’t tell the difference? In Catlettsburg…there is no difference.

If you don’t vote, you don’t count! If you are not registered to vote, you do not matter…to the powers that be or to your neighbors that are registered and do vote, or to the city.

Clear and frank language, whether oral or written, is easily understood. You may agree or not with the content and/or the context of same, or you may just slough it off as an unimportant waste of your time. It is neither a waste of your time nor lacking in importance.

With the lone exception of your personal salvation through the sacrificed blood of Christ Jesus, or by any other faith and/or belief you may hold for your redemption, politics…pure, plain and simple, have more control over everything you do or cannot do than any force, save God.

Politics and politicians depend on the importance of the vote. Every city, county, state, and democratic nation in this world depends on "the vote." Secured first by the blood of Christ for our salvation, and secured throughout our history as a nation by the blood of our military. From our home grown militia at Concord to present day Kandahar, sacrificed blood by our troops and our allies has been the "coin of the realm" for those wanting the vote, needing the vote and willing to shed blood (ours and theirs) for the vote…to choose their own representatives at all levels of government…city, county, state and nation. To shed blood to gain the vote, or to die in the attempt is a noble cause worthy of either.

Please read the following by Michael Goforth, of Scripps Howard News Service. Hopefully you may feel your registration and voting "rights," secured throughout our history by the "blood of others," are important enough for even you to register and exercise that right, for which "American patriots (throughout all of our lives) have sacrificed their lives and fortunes." Go slow, his work is deserving of your full attention and reasoning.

WHEN THEIR COUNTRY CALLED,

They rose like fog in a deep, dark valley, leaving the blood soaked-earth,the smell of gun powder, the stench of sweat and burned flesh.
Leaving behind their broken bodies on the fields of Shiloh and Manasses, of Chancellorsville and Antietam, at Gettysburg where they gave their last full measure of devotion, and joined the long, ghostly march of Americans dead from combat.

In country cemeteries beside white wooden churches the soldiers they were turned to dust. In places far from home, they rose from the blood-soaked earth at Somme and Normandy, at Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima, the bodies of the soldiers they were, buried at Colleville-sur-Mer in France, at Ardennes in Belgium, at Nettuno in Italy.
And joined the long, ghostly march of Americans dead from combat.

The heroes of Inchon and Chosin rose from their blood-soaked earth and joined their eternal brothers and sisters, fathers and grandfathers on the long, ghostly march of Americans killed in combat. They rose from the bloodstained earth, from the rice fields and the jungles along the Mekong, at Da Nang and at Khe Sanh.

Far away and dangerous places where terrible things were seen, and terrible things were experienced.  They rose and joined the long, ghostly march of Americans killed in combat. At Kosovo and Kabul and Kandahar, they rose from the blood-soaked earth, rose likee fog in a deep, dark valley and joined the long, ghostly march of American killed in combat.

And still the line grows stronger with each passing day, stretching beyond the horizon, stretching our ability to remember. Hundreds, thousands, hundreds of thousands joining the long, ghostly march of Americans killed in combat. Dead in Mosul, dead in Kirkuk, dead in Najaf, dead in Tikrit, dead in Fallujah, dead in …and they march and they march and more and more they march, and we can only pray that those we know and love will not join them as they march, will not join those who rise from the blood-soaked earth like a fog, joining the march, taking their place on the long, ghostly march of Americans killed in combat.

(All for each of us. Selflessly, aall for us.)

If “the Burg” is ever to change from its general stagnation, it will have to be through the efforts of registered and voting women. The men have failed miserably and worse.

It really is that easy!  It takes some work…a dedication to the effort necessary to compete and win.  Registering to vote is a prerequisite to the entire effort. Five minutes in the County Clerk’s office will do it all.

Each of you have relatives, friends, neighbors and inlaws. Call one or more of them…and  tell each why you are registering to vote.  The simple truth of the matter being that you want to have a say in who is representing you in the city, county and state government.

Your vote is precious!  The franchise of the free!  It is not for sale, it has to be earned…not taken for granted by your husband’s friends, inlaws or relatives.  It is yours and yours alone. Guard against any misuse of it.
Exercise it whenever and where ever you feel it is needed…and earned.

Two or three knowledgeable, assertive and determined women are worth more than a double-dozen men at organizing, seeing what needs to be done, detailing who is best at this or that and appointing them to do it…working together until it is finished.  Meanwhile, that double-dozen would have cracked their third or fourth beer and arguing as to was going to lead, be the head honcho or the big cheese. )(^%$@!%^&*()!!

TO INSURE OUR FUTURE, WE MUST ADMIT AND CORRECT THE MISTAKES OF THE PAST, AND WALK FORWARD IN THE PRESENT AS ONE.

ACTUALLY, MATERIALLY AND PHILOSOPHICALLY WE MIGHT PONDER WELL THE WORDS AND TRUTHS REPRESENTED IN THE WORK OF THIS UNKNOWN AUTHOR, IN RELATION TO OUR CITY AND HOW WE GOT TO THIS POINT OF REGRESSION AND LOSS.

AM I A BUILDER WHO WORKS WITH CARE, MEASURING LIFE WITH RULE AND SQUARE?
OR AM I A WRECKER WHO WALKS THE TOWN, CONTENT WITH THE LABOR OF TEARING DOWN?  …ANON.
